CV. "HZ" refers to a specific clone of Trichocereus Huarazensis.

Here's what is known about CV. "HZ":

Origin of the Name: "Huarazensis" generally refers to a Trichocereus variety believed to originate from the Huaraz province in Peru. The "HZ" is a common abbreviation for Huarazensis within the cactus community. Characteristics: It is typically described as a short-spined form of Trichocereus. It's a columnar cactus, characteristic of the Trichocereus genus (often also called San Pedro cactus).

"CV." Designation: The "CV." stands for "Cultivated Variety," meaning this is a specific clone that has been selected and propagated by growers. There can be multiple distinct plants referred to as "Huarazensis," so "HZ" likely refers to a specific, recognized genetic line.
Use in Hybridization: "HZ" is often used as a parent in hybridization. You can find cuttings and seedlings that are crosses with "HZ" as one of the parents, such as: 'HZ x Lumberjack' HZ x Malo4' (where Malo4 itself is a Scopulicola cross, sometimes referred to as 'M4 x HZ' or 'Malo4 x HZ')
'HZ-Leyenda x DrG Scop' (Leyenda being another specific clone) Source of Seeds/Cuttings: "HZ" genetics are circulated within the cactus community through various vendors and growers, including seed producers like Misplant.

Kimnach- Kimnach comes from the Huntington Botanical Garden and is named after Myron Kimnach who was the director for a period of time. He collected the clone on the side of the road from Cajamarca to Namora in Peru in the 80's. (was assigned the collection number HBG 53196). Very glaucus and blue with short spines (max 2CM) Flowers are white and covered in brown hairs.
