The Spiral Cactus is a captivating plant that, with proper care and attention to its light and watering needs, can become a stunning architectural feature in a garden or as a large indoor specimen. Species: While often referred to as Cereus spiralis, its correct botanical name is Cereus Forbesii 'Spiralis'. The 'Spiralis' indicates it's a cultivar (cultivated variety) of Cereus Forbesii.

Native Range: The parent species, Cereus Forbesii, is native to arid regions of South America, including Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil.
Cultivar Origin: The exact origin of the 'Spiralis' mutation isn't fully known, but it's believed to have been discovered in Peru or possibly Brazil. Cuttings from this original plant were then imported into Europe in the 1980s and propagated vegetatively. Most specimens in cultivation today are likely hybrids (e.g., Cereus Forbesii 'Spiralis' x C. Stenogonus) that retain the spiral growth form, as the original "pure strain" is rare.

Disclaimer: Information about specific cactus cultivars can sometimes be found within online cactus communities and from specialized vendors. All clones and hybrids intended for ornamental use only.
