Everything to Know About Crassula 'Buddha's Temple'
  • Origin & Hybridization: It is a laboratory-created hybrid first bred in 1959 by Myron Kimnach. It is a cross between Crassula pyramidalis and Crassula perfoliata var. minor (formerly C. falcata).
  • Physical Appearance: It features heart-shaped, silvery-grey to greyish-green leaves that are densely stacked in four-sided columns. These columns typically grow up to 6–12 inches tall and approximately 1.6 inches wide.
  • Flowering: The plant produces clusters of small, star-shaped flowers that are typically pale pink to nearly white. Blooming often occurs in spring and summer, though it can flower at other times under ideal conditions.
  • Care Requirements:
    • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or partial shade. Intense direct sun can scorch the leaves.
    • Water: Highly drought-tolerant; it requires infrequent but deep watering only when the soil is completely dry.
    • Soil: Needs extremely well-draining, gritty soil to prevent root rot, which is a common issue for this variety.
