'Adele' is a cultivar that has gained some recognition within the cactus community, particularly among enthusiasts of San Pedro cacti. Here's what is known about it:

Origin and Naming: The cultivar 'Adele' was reportedly named by a cactus enthusiast who found a large, mature stand of it. The owner of the stand, an elderly lady named Adele, didn't know the cultivar name as her husband had planted them around 25 years prior, having obtained them from a roof worker. With her permission, the enthusiast named the cultivar 'Adele' in her honor. It's often associated with Trichocereus pachanoi (San Pedro).

Characteristics: While specific detailed characteristics for 'Adele' are not as widely documented as some older, more established cultivars, generally, Trichocereus species (now often reclassified under Echinopsis) are known for:

Columnar Growth: They typically have tall, green, columnar stems with vertical ribs.

Flowers: Most Trichocereus species produce large, showy, night-blooming flowers, often white, that can be quite fragrant and last for about two days.

Growth Rate: Many Trichocereus are fast-growing cacti.

Spines: Spination can vary greatly among Trichocereus cultivars, from nearly spineless to having prominent spines.

Cultivation: Like other Trichocereus varieties, 'Adele' would generally require:

Sunlight: Ample sunlight, preferring full sun but tolerating partial shade.

Soil: Well-draining, mineral-rich substrate with little organic matter. A good cactus mix with sand and perlite is suitable.

Watering: Water sparingly from March to October, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Keep them perfectly dry in winter, ideally at temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius. They are generally not as tolerant of freezing temperatures as some other cacti.

Propagation: Can be propagated by seeds, grafting, or cuttings. Due to its "cultivar" status, propagation via vegetative methods (cuttings, grafting) is essential to ensure the genetic traits of 'Adele' are preserved.

Important Note on Classification: It's worth noting that many Trichocereus species, including T. pachanoi, have been reclassified under the genus Echinopsis. Therefore, you might see 'Adele' referred to as Echinopsis pachanoi CV 'Adele' in some contexts.

As a relatively newer cultivar, detailed scientific descriptions might be less common compared to historical species. Its recognition and popularity are more likely to be found within collector circles and online communities dedicated to cacti.
