More details about the Desert Rose
- Origin: This succulent is native to East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
- Characteristics: It is a pachycaul shrub characterized by a stout, swollen basal caudex that stores water. It features leathery green leaves spirally arranged at the tips of its branches and produces trumpet-shaped flowers, typically in shades of pink, rose, or white.
- Growth: In its natural habitat, it can reach heights of 6 to 9 feet and live for up to 500 years.
- Care: The Desert Rose thrives in full sun and requires well-draining soil, such as a 50/50 mix of pumice and cactus soil. It is a low-water plant; during the growing season, it should be watered thoroughly once the soil has dried completely. In cooler months, water should be restricted, and the plant must be brought indoors if temperatures drop below 40-45°F.
