Myrtillocactus Geometrizans, commonly known as the Blue Myrtle Cactus or Blue Candle Cactus.
Key Characteristics
- Appearance: It is a blue-grey, columnar cactus that grows in a candelabra-like shape. It features distinctive ribs with small, evenly spaced spines.
- Flowers & Fruit: It produces creamy white or greenish-white flowers starting when the plant is approximately 60 cm tall. The fruit is a small, sweet, edible dark purple or red berry, often called a "bilberry".
- Native Habitat: This cactus is native to central and northern Mexico.
Care Requirements
- Light: Thrives in full sun or indirect bright light.
- Watering: It is important to let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Avoid misting and do not let the plant sit in damp soil to prevent root rot.
